Title: FL pass door wont open or close
Post by: conalnugent on 01 February 2014, 23:02:30
Passenger door was playing uo for a day or 2 with door not unlocking with the key so was having to open back door, reach in and pull the pun then open the door.

Last time the door was closed it wasnt closed right, wasn't fully shut tight. seen it today so went to open it to shut it right.  Same thing as above but only this time with pin pulled up it wouldn't open. So junoed in driver side and it wouldnt open from the interior handle. Then jumped out it wouldn't close fully with a push of the door so now its stuck semi closed and tons of wind noise.

Any ideas how to get it open so I can fix it?
Any ideas what parts could be at fault?
Thanks in advance

That sounds like the door lock control unit (solonoid) has failed in that door. Part is available from VX only new and I think p/n is V0090493702 other number I have on my invoice here is 045J8 CENTRAL LOCKIN. I payed 74.98 for unit I got after talking to the parts guy really nicely at VX as they are supposed to be 85 ish each. I had to do mine as niether front door would lock or unlock remotely or with key. If your door is stuck on the safety catch try bouncing your wieght against it near the handle (without denting it). The units are simple to replace but involve removing the door card and having the door open, which in your case could be an issue. Depeng what year the car is depends how you change the lock control and you don't need to remove the door handle if you are carefull only the 3 Torx for the catch unit ... It only took me about 45 minutes per side to do mine but be aware that there hidden screws on the B facelift door cards (2001 onwards). Hope this helps with the problem ... Graham
