My credit card has just been given a 'kicking' to the tune of £636..... :'( :'(
Oh well, that's life. :(
I suppose it's all part of the master plan for German domination in Europe. ::) ::) :(
Who'll be the first to say " I told you so, Mr Opti". If only you'd been sensible and purchased a Daewoo?...... ;)

What's that bill for mate? This dealer?
-
Wouldnt a rent boy be cheaper than getting shafted by benz ;D

What was it? Was it what you suspected :-\

Rear airbag fault on the passenger side. Four of these units make up the MB airmatic suspension system.
The Mercedes main dealer nearest to me quoted £693 plus VAT for the part and 3 hours of labour at £112 P/H plus VAT.
This came to the eye-watering total of........wait for it ::) ::).....£1235.
I finally decided on a Mercedes 'independent' dealer. :y
It was still a hefty kick in the balls, but not quite so painful. ;D
They charged £430 plus VAT for the part and 2 hours of labour at £50 P/H plus VAT.
....giving a grand total of £636. :-X
The car runs like a swiss watch now. :y

I saw the prices of the suspension airbags for mine while I was looking eBay for the similar units on a Land/range Rover ......... you could have bought the lot for that money.
I have to say that I like the ride on the Airmatic ...... ;) ;) ;) ;)
It's only money ::) ::) ::)

Good grief, and I thought the Range Rovers were expensive!!! I bet Mercs are more fiddley to do though? Wi my Rangie, 2 jacks, couple of basic tools and they were done. Quite an easy diy job to be honest, bet the merc isn't.

I hope not to get the opportunity! :-X :y

Now why didn't Lord Opti ask the oof first...?

I thought it was MOT'd just before you bought it? :-\

I thought it was MOT'd just before you bought it? :-\
The very day I bought it, Sir Tig.
It can take hours or even days for the airbag to deflate, so getting it through the MOT is not a problem. The car drove perfectly once 'pumped up' but it puts a constant strain on the (extremely expensive) pump because it was working so hard to keep it inflated.
Personally, I'd go for conventional suspension every time.
Anyway, now it's sorted nothing else can possibly go wrong....... ::) ::) ::) ;D

I had a new compressor fitted to mine a few months after buying it ...... under warranty :y It started timing out & throwing a message up.
As above ..... I like the Airmatic :y ABC is another variation on suspension (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Body_Control)

As opposed to cat like reflexes :D

I wonder... If I stick a chicken on each corner.... Hmmm.

Bad luck there Mr Opti , but you could always get the cash back with the sale of the Omega :-\

That is some bill! You could get a pair of Omegas for that ;D

Are you going to have a chat with the previous owner? As he must have known the airbag was faulty.... ::)

I've decided to keep the MV6 as backup should the shit really hit the fan with the CLS. If only Mercedes were as reliable as Vauxhall. Check out the JD Power survey. Mercs are average for reliability at best. :-\
Any chance of an OOF 'whip round' for an impoverished Omega owner?........ ::) ::) ::) :)
£1 from each of our 6000 members will do nicely. :y
Thanks in advance. :)

I'm not sure he did, Sir Tig.
It wasn't obvious for quite some time. :(
