Hi car failed its MOT this morning on the following,
Rear section of the front to rear brake pipe (both sides)
Rear Brakes imbalanced across rear axle 45%
parking brake 9%
offside lower ball joint
Headlight washers not working.
Just wondering how much the parts would cost for these and where to get them.
I can tackle most things but have not changed any brake pipes before.
Any Help would be grateful.
Many Thanks
just wondering if anyone can help

Where are you

Tunbridge wells

Not too bad considering the age of our favourite Vx :)
Brake pipes shouldn't cost the earth to replace, you could choose to do some of the work yourself and get the testing garage to do say the pipes and ball joint and strip down the rear brakes yourself, you may be lucky and just find they need cleaning and/or adjusting.
Hopefully the washers is a fuse or maybe a blockage etc
Fuse No 26 shows as
Number plate lamp,
automatic transmission,
headlamp wash system
10 A
Hope that helps

When I failed on the headlight washers, it was the pump. Easily sourced from a breaker :y

Are headlight washers part of UK MOT :o
Brake pipes - if you haven't got the tools, may be worth asking someone for a quote to make/fit, or if you don't need car, remove and get a set made up. Not worth buying the tools unless you will use them a few times IMHO
Handbrake - clean and adjust as per guide, free up rear caliper whilst there
Lower balljoint? On wishbone? Possible to rill out old one and replace with a bolt on. Depending on bush condition, a pair of new wishbones may be better in long run.

If fitted, must work

I guess one of mine must have dribbled a bit then, when it was MOTd... ...clearly enough to dampen the headlight glass ::)

If HID's are fitted, and it has washers (as all OEM installations do..) then they must work - don't know if it applies to "normal" headlamps though?
