Title: V6 exhaust help
Post by: Sam Burton on 10 February 2014, 16:00:35
Hi guys

I've finally brought my 2.6 but the exhaust is shot,

It currently has a single exit exhaust can a 3.0/3.2 exhaust system with a twin exit bolt straight on?

Sam

Yep, though a 3.0 backbox may need the tails extending with trims due to the deeper F/L bumper

Yes, the v6 exhausts are all the same for given body type (saloon or estate), with genuine GM ones being a shade longer for FL.

Pattern ones all tend to be shorter, ie for PFL, hence the trims that RobG mentions.

I use Eternal on mine (about £100 delivered for all 3 sections. ETS are slightly cheaper and equivilent quality. These are far superior in construction and lack of drone noise than the shite like Timax Bosal that fast fit use.

The fitting kits are poor, though, so don't pay extra (sometimes lobbed in for free), get these bits if needed from a local factors.

Oh, and soak the mid section to cat section bolts in plusgas overnight - they are a sod to drill out and retap if you shear a bolt...

The (8/9yr old) Jettex on my PFL is a little on the long side for my car, presumably intended for a facelift saloon

I fitted an Eternalcar one to mine, ended up with a ten quid trim because they didn't have a twin exit backbox in stock and I needed the exhaust right the flip right now... Highly recommended, excellent quality and quick delivery IME.
