If the torque converter starts off empty you probably want 10 litres to be on the safe side. Pauls' 9 litres is about on the money, I reckon.

Two 5 litre cans covers it.

Fuchs Titan via google. :)

Get a cheap pressure fence sprayer to fill said box, from memory with empty torque conveter takes 9L.
are you going to drop sumps before fitting and clean, filter can be washed with petrol.

Removal. Unbolt prop, remove down pipes,un plug lamdas, unplug gear box lectric plugsx2, remove cooler pipes and allow to drain, remove inspection cover bung to allow acess to flex plate, torque converter bolts.

Haynes is helpfull, can be a bit ott tho..
done a few its easier on a ramp with a gearbox lift,or a friend. Bit of a pain on your back on axle stands, again do able just takes bit longer,  enjoy :)

Nope. The filters never clog. I'm going to hold it upright (prop end down), remove the sensor right at the bottom, and allow the contents to empty into a bucket.

That way I save time and money with new gaskets on the sumps. I hate used ATF.

Yes. If it was for someone else I would remove sumps and filter as advertised

In reality it's pointless.

I learnt this trick from sassanach. What he doesn't know about these boxes isn't worth knowing.

Depends how much crud there is in the sumps to get flushed back into the bearings and clutches. I think, on a gearbox not known to me, I'd have the sumps off at least the first time. :-\

I couldn't help myself

I've drained the box and removed both sumps

No crud as such, but some satisfaction had by wiping out the sump pans :D

I have got exactly 6 litres out of the box,

Anyone know how much the T Converter holds? :y

I was guessing more like 1 litre, and a litre in the cooler? Just guesses though

Yep, I have a recollection that in total it's about 9 litres, and about 7 required for a quick change (i.e. excluding any fluid in the TC and cooler plumbing, less spillages, the amount required to establish the traditional Dex-3 hairdo, etc.).

That's probably the usual nonsense in that they only stock 1L bottles "sealed for life, don't you know"*.

Yup. ATF Dexron 111 semi-synthetic 20 litres. Their code : UKTOGA06.
In both my gearboxes.
The 10W-40 engine semi-skimmed oil is £27.95  20 litres. :y

All on TC and plus VAT. :y

These are the same prices as last year, so quite a good deal. :y

According to VX, this is the pukka stuff, I asked when I bought it last year. I posted the sheet with the prices on last year, but can't find the post now. The prices are the same as them. :y
