Title: crank shaft oil seal
Post by: rockabilly on 12 February 2014, 12:41:12
Hi to you all
Omega still going,just.
Now I have just been told the back oil seal has gone on the crank.I know the Auto box will have to be dropped to replace the seal.
Question is I have been quoted from £250 to £300 to replace the seal
The best i thought was by a garage who said £280 all parts and with the dropping of the Auto box they would have to change the auto oil and this will be included in the price ,do they need to change the oil ,I had it changed 3 years ago?
car is a 2.2 107,000 on the clock

Might as well bung a new filter in it while they're at it :y

A local garage replaced the crank seal on mine for around £250 and I supplied an OE GM seal ...... it was dear at £30-odd, but as it's a PITA to get to, no point in fitting a cheap seal.

In hind sight I'd have given them the exhaust down pipe gaskets too because they just used exhaust paste which obviously didn't last  :(
