Title: 3.2 cam cover seal question
Post by: tigers_gonads on 13 February 2014, 18:24:30
Next along with the oil cooler on the list of things to do list  :y

Looking at this in the maintenance section ......  http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=102936.msg1288342#msg1288342

Can anybody shine any light on the cut off date / differences on the cover seals ?

By no means certain, but is it the slight(as far as the gasket goes) difference between coil pack covers of the Dbw engines, and the spark plug per cylinder cam covers of the 2.5 and 3.0?

I fitted the "older style " 2 peice gaskets to my 03.Elite then realised the correct gaskets have a joining strip at each end.

On advise it appears thatthe old style gaskets are fine but you run the risk of moisture getting under the cover in the center. My solution was to apply a thin bead of black cam sealant across the middle joiner and then fit the gaskets as normal.

No sign of oil leak after 3 months and all is fine :y

Mid facelift, say '99 on, to coincide with the Cadillac Catera as a 3.0 dbw :y
