As some know, my business went to the wall a few years back and I ended up with my head up my arse and bankrupt :(
For the past year or so, I've smashed my head against various walls trying in vain to earn a living and mostly failing miserably :(
WELL LOOKS LIKE MY LUCK MIGHT HAVE CHANGED :D :D :D
Got what's left of my hair cut this morning and bumped into a old school pal who I haven't seen for years.
Ended up chatting as you do and I let it slip that I've sweet FA work on and i'm on the verge of selling my arse ;D
Well he wasn't interested in my arse but it turns out he works for a recruiting firm here in Hull and they have just got a contract to supply labour for a portacabin firm who have just got a massive contact for the Olympics.
Well they are screaming out for sparkys and most trades and I've got a interview at 10am this Monday :D
Its a really crap shift Mon - Wed 17:00 till 03:30 and Thurs 17:00 till 01:00 and I know it will kill me but I just need to take some of the pressure off swmbo because her paying for everything is driving me nuts :'(
I haven't been to a formal interview in over 20 years and i'm bloody terrified :-[ ::)
I can't find most of my papers or anything :(
Would it be good idea to take my mum along ;D ;D ;D
I know one thing though ................ I can't see me getting much sleep over the next few days
-
Good luck!
Would it be good idea to take my mum along ;D ;D ;D
;D You say that in jest but, in my mid 20s (the last time I did an external formal interview) I always seemed to find myself parked up at the place with 20 minutes spare, phoning my mum up for reassurance.. :-[ :-[ ;D
-
Best of luck TG :y :y :y

Best of luck Steve. Stay calm, relax, and most importantly, "Google" the company and get some info then just mention a few of their projects etc during the interview chat. You`d be surprised how much importance employers place on a prospective employee`s knowledge of the company they are hoping to work for
-
Good luck mate :y
-
All the best mate. :y :y
-
Indeed, best of luck :y
On the brightside, those hours mean you won't need to be getting up at silly o'clock ;D

its not a bad idea to actually tell them that when you go in !
if you want some coaching, you know where I am
-
Best of luck and be yourself. I'm sure you will be fine.
I wouldn't take your mum along (maybe a favourite teddy?) ::)

Well done TG! I know exactly how you feel. A few months ago I setup shop in partnership with a foreign IT Security company and since then I have only had bit-jobs dribbling in, barely enough to pay the bills and even then sometimes not. I leave for Lyon next week to finalise a long term highly lucrative contract which means I will be commuting a lot but this will generate enough income to start growing the UK side, hiring more people developing more products etc.
I am a very happy bunny today! 8)
By the way, I deal a lot with recruiting and recruiters so if you need any tips or advice for your interview just drop me a PM :y
-
Good luck, Mr Gonads.
I was about to offer you a full-time job of impregnating young virgins.
The pay would have been £150,000 P.A with a company car of your choice. :y
Of course. You don't need the job now. ::) ::) ::) ;D
-

Best of Luck. Mirror what RobG said. For eg: just knowing what the company's mission statement is, can help you look a lot better than other candidates.

Got the job lads :)
Start Monday 3rd March / looking at about 6 months work for starters ............. If your face fits, there is a chance you may get took on by the firm permanently so i'll be on my best behaviour for once ;D
£12:34 a hour plus 15% if your on nights which I will be :-\
Not a great deal but at the end of the day, i've made just over 300 quid in the last 10 weeks so i'm a very happy gonads ;D
The interview was mad to be honest ::)
Walked in, suited and booted about 15 minutes early and strolled up to the desk.
Spent 5 minutes chatting the rather nice blond lady up filling out paperwork out.
Mentioned that I knew Steve, the bloke who I had come to see from my school days.
Turned out the blond lass was married to another big oppser lad that I knew from school ::)
That was the end of the flirting ;D ;D
Interview went great.
As soon as they knew what my business name was, they didn't want any references so that put a smile on my face :-[ :)
I could have started tonight but i've still got a few bits and bobs to sort out first and because since i've paid not tax for years, every penny would have been tax free before April ::)
Right, i've been up since 5 this morning (take the missus to work) and my head is still banging so a couple more paracetemol for me and i'll go sit in a quite corner for a while until they take affect :'(
I know there are a few lads on here who struggle at times with work so the message for the day is ............... keep your heads up and keep battling because things can change very quickly, and sometimes it is for the better :) :)
Right, i'm off to my quite, dark corner for a bit :y
Night night :)
