Is there a reason why my post 'Its not looking good...!' Was removed by Auto Addict?
-
Did you neglect to mention Custard in this post ???
If not then i'm at a loss as to why the Hon. Gent. took exception tbh :-\ ;)

Was starting to look like a breakers ad... :-\

Well that's got me even more confused, how can a post offering other members the chance for spares etc 'FREE FREE FREE' be construed as a breakers ad? If that is the mentality of the forum, carry on buying your spares!
I just thought it was a decent gesture!
-
It is explained within the rules ::)
If you genuinely wish to give bits of your car away, then pop a suitably worded post in the Test Zone and ask an Admin nicely if they wouldn't mind moving it to the Bits for Sale section :y

I am with you on this. Just because someone made the rules, does not mean they make sense.
-
I think it is to stop people joining just to sell bits.
Free bits is always good and I believe you acted with the best of intentions and I took it as a decent gesture
I wish I was closer to collect some stuff.

Another new member, trying to do the right thing but caught out by the rules. :-X

Yes, but the rules are there to protect everyone and no rule can be laid out in such terms that they cover every conceivable instance, as the OP found to his chagrin. The rules is the rules is the rules (even the Admins have to abide by them! ;D

Maybe so but perhaps when someone is making a generous offer ,unwittingly going against the rules, then there is a right and wrong way to deal with it surely? Clearly he feels hurt that his kind offer appears to have been snubbed and it leaves an unpleasent taste as is evident by his response....and I for one agree with him!
-
Had the Forum Guidelines been read, the perhaps the OP might have acted differently... such as posting in the Test Zone or PMing an Admin first :y
iirc, you tick a box agreeing to a statement when you register :y

What a bunch of crap, the rules are rules, don't like them, well go away ::)
250 posts does not take very long to mount up, it's a way of ensuring people contribute to the forum.
Lastly, members here have been burnt before by newbie members and parts. So rules are there to protect members, perhaps if member had approached admin first? Instead of just going ahead?

Well you know how to make new members feel welcome dont you! Where did you go to charm school? I dont think an honest posting genuinely submitted in error offering free spares deserves this sort of welcome!

Seen hundreds of 'honest' mistakes trying to post around the rules over the years here, as others have said you could have posted in test zone, or PM's an admin as you knew it was borderline.
I will say again, members here previously have lost out financially due to new members selling parts. Often some listed as 'free', but then do sales/trades over PM, the thread serving as an advert. Members get ripped off then complain to the forum.
Admins use up their spare time to go though the threads here. So comply to the rules & get you post count up and stop complaining!

Im not complaining about the rules , ive not been rude or insulting, and i accept the points you have made as being valid and appreciate the time and effort everyone puts in to help others....BUT...a GENTLE , polite reprimand would do just as well .... being polite and treating others the way you would like to be treated costs nothing does it? Anyway, I made my point and perhaps its fallen on deaf ears, so i'll say no more other than asking you to at least consider my observations.

seems a shame that someone would get left with hurt feelings as this forum is a fountain of excellent knowledge and is full of kind helpful folk. It's a good thing that your offering free parts for others ( very generous I might add ), just a shame that the rules HAVE to be there for everyone's protection really there are some real funt's about.

Your offer was very decent of you and is much appreciated by all those on here (well most).
If you re-post in the Test area and ask the Admin guys if they could move it for you, I'm sure they well do, as I would be interested to see what spares you need a new home for :)
Kind regards,
Dave :y
