Title: Insignia Tyres
Post by: pscocoa on 15 February 2014, 00:52:29
Fronts have gone at 18000 miles. £160 each to replace with the Bridgestone that were fitted as original. Not impressed but SWMBO wants it done yesterday and she has sorted. Goes in tomorrow for fitting.

Gold plated tyres then?  :o  What size are they at that price?  ::)

Ah, the joy of big wheels and lo-pro tyres. You certainly have to pay for your pleasures. ::)

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy2 can be had for about £118 a corner.

I'm thinking about buying a set for the CLS.

245/-/18......I can't remember middle  bit. ;D

From what I've seen, sc3 last almost twice the miles of the quieter f1.

Its probably best to stick with the oe tyre though, to avoid any nasty surprises. 18k is pretty good mileage from a front wheel drive, to my mind anyway.

As said before £60 a corner is plenty, any more is just bloody scandalous..

Might go Sport maxx TT next on the front. Defo less miles, but more grip to balance the rear. ;)

Most of the customer reviews that I've read rate them as middling/average or so-so/fair.

They seem to have been around for along time and are therefore 'old technology'

However, I've not experienced them myself. In fact the last Dunlop tyre  I sampled was the legendary TT100. :) ;)

I actually mean RT. But the TT was better.

Seeing as the sc5 is also worse than the sc3, and apparently the sc2 was better than the 3... Are we getting the picture?

Seems to me manufacturers are producing cheaper tyres and charging more for them under the guise of a new model.
Customers let them away with it out of ignorance/lack of desire/see no need for a tyre with a decent performance level, and would rather have the mileage. Nobody wants a performance tyre these days.

Arguably, sc3 isn't a performance tyre anyway in old money. But as all things are relative, it now is. Very disappointing. :(
