Hi guy, I'm James and I'm 19. I absolutely LOVE Omega's so I thought I'd join the forum :D
-
That is great!
Welcome here!

Welcome to OOF mate :y

Hi and welcome :y

Welcome James. I see you don't drive. Not a surprise with the insurance theft required at your age! Just a thought... when cars get to some arbitrary age 20something years I think, you can get classic insurance which is a different kettle of fish in terms of cost. Check it out. The oldest omegas can't be too far off. Get one some how. They're very addictive for the simple joy if driving them.
Welcome again! :y

Welcome, Omega's are not just fun to drive they are sooo much fun to fix :D
-
Yeah, insurance is crazy if you're less than 21! :-\ My Dad has a Carlton 1.8 GL which I'd love to get off of him, but I think even with classic insurance it'd still be pretty crazy.
CD 2.2, I sense some sarcasm in your comment?... :P Haha.

I had a 2.6 when I was 19, insurance was only 10% more than for my 1.5 Almera...
-
How much were you paying for a 2.6 Omega when you were 19?!

£1100 or so. Because so few younguns have them, they don't crash them as often, so statistically they're less risk than a Corsa or Fiesta. Even with two or three times the power output...

Damn! I just wish they were cheaper to insure straight away, rather than needing 1 years NCB to bring the price down to a reasonable price :-\

We are going back a few years don't forget. And if you're thinking of modifying it, that will send your premium sky high.
Get something slow, old, and decent, yet relatively unknown to the chavs, ie an old (very old) Corolla, 323, or similar, and keep your initial outlay down, then save hard for the Omega you want...

I'd love to have something old and uncommon for young people, but insurance prices are still stupidly high no matter what the car is :(
In a perfect world I'd like a facelift 3.2 in a prefacelift shell, but I'm going to have to do that swap myself which kind of sucks haha

I'm 2500 For now and only got my licence in May last year, but I have 2 years no claims, from my provisional, but my insurance company wouldn't take them because I bought my omega when I still had my Fiat >:(
I checked insurance for a 3.0 elite and ( with 2 years no claims ) and it came up 900 ::) some 1.1s come up more expensive than that :o
-
Damn! So after 10 months of drive you can insure a 3 litre Omega for 900 quid?! That's crazy!
-
That's not too bad ... I pay £1210 for my 2.2 with 2 years licence but 0 NCB @ 30 (no accidents just used works vehicles alot)
