Title: Electrical buzzing noise.

I keep hearing a strange electric shorting noise from the passenger seat, glove box area.

Everything seems to be working fine but a bit worried that a noise like that normally means a possible fire risk.

Anybody had this before and maybe know a cure.

There are several motors associated with the climate control. Depending on settings, they sometimes function as the ignition is switched on/off :-\

Another possibility could be the heater blower motor... is the scuttle dry around the pollen filter?

One of the passenger door speakers blown?

Under what circumstances does it happen?

Have you tried pulling fuses one by one until it stops? This will help to isolate the possibilities :y

Also what model is your car? The 2.6 is about the only engine fitted across the range ::)

I'd bet on a climate control flap motor.

I would also have to be inclined to agree, you can get alot of whiring and buzzing relating to blowers depending on settings.from the dash area ... you could also have a leaf or something rattling around in the vents?? just a thought as these cars are so quiet inside you pick up on every noise going on in there lol

It's a 2002 CDX taxi al. It has heated seats and mirrors if that helps.
The noise is mostly noticeable when I first turn on the ignition and with out the heating on as it's drowned out by the noise of the blowers so not sure if it still happens with blowers working.
The scuttle was full of water about a month ago resulting in a wet foot well. Tho I've now emptied it and dried the floor, heating works as expected.

Don't think its speakers as I rarely use the radio so normally turned off.

Not tried fuses yet so will have a mess around with them tomorrow.

That does narrow it down to the heater flaps behaving normally :y

I think it,s fairly normal mate, mine does the same thing when switching ign. off. Had car since last August and no probs. :y
