Went on a family outing to Granada city (lovely place) and the purse was taken out of a zipped up handbag and zipped up again after. I actually said when we got out of the car keep an eye on your bags as tourist traps equate to pickpockets.
Realised fairly soon after when we went to pay for coffees.
Straight onto our Spanish bank and cancelled cards/stopped account. Then Nationwide Building Society. That took 35 minutes to stop credit card, joint acct and a sole account. While we were on being asked endless security questions the guy actually said I can see the cards being used and locked up through three wrong attempts at PIN. I might waste time and write and complain about their process.
Went to local police to file a report but the queue was at least 90 minutes. Some waiting actually looked as though they had died . :o Gave up as not insured so no urgency but can do from our local police within seven days. Might help if the tossed away contents after cash (180 euros) and bank cards had been taken, is handed in. The only Granada police station that handles crime reports is a 15 minute taxi ride (for holiday makers) from city centre tucked away on the outskirts. I wonder how many give up and thus make crime look less.?
Tomorrow begins the hassle of obtaining replacement passport, driving license, health card, residents card, etc etc. Most of which you have to carry by law.

Very sorry to hear this Snr. Varche :(

Last summer, my daughter hadn't got out of Barcelona airport before her mobile phone 'went missing' >:(

Gits. I hate thieves.

Hopefully it won't take too much running around to sort out :-\

Barstewards!! >:( Impressive skills though to unzip a bag, lift a purse and zip up again without being noticed. ::)
Hope you get everything sorted soon! :)

I hope you get it sorted soon, dealing with such stuff is always a nightmare and often at the most awkward times.
-
Sorry to hear this. :'(
Please pass on our sympathy to Mrs. V. :y Things like this are so upsetting. Cards and passports can be replaced, although it's a huge inconvenience of course. The cash has probably gone, but it could have been worse.

Barcelona is an absolute nightmare. Sister in law had bag snatched on Las Ramblas within a very short time of arriving in City. People are relaxed, on holiday and therefore not expecting this shit

Gits. I hate thieves.
Easiest solution is ' off with their head hands
Not many pick pockets called stumpy
These people have no idea or care the hassle they put their victims through
Hope it all gets sorted as soon as

You don't have to go abroad. My missus got a call from police in Edinburgh this morning, one of her teachers was staying with a friend there and, while they were out last night, someone broke into the house and took, amongst other things, her school iPad. The police wanted the serial number of it.

I'm sorry to hear this, Mr Varche. :(

Very sorry to hear of this Varche.
Some years ago I had my purse taken from my handbag whilst boarding a bus at the Elephant & Castle, S.London, so I we'll know the grief this is causing!
At least though you are both safe, as certainly in my case I was told afterwards how lucky I was that I didn't see who robbed me as something nasty could have happened; didn't know if they meant physical harm to me or what I would have done to the shitbags!! :P
Hope all is eventually sorted and at least your wife is one of the sensible ones who doesn't carry their PIN with their cards! Never understood that one! :o :o
