Title: lap top help....

i`m trying to watch dvds on my ibm laptop but everytime i goto media player it says no dvd decoder present?? anyideas?

Possible the easiest single codec you'll ever need is ffdshow.

nope still cant play dvds on ere.....now its saying i need to change regions as its stuck on region 1and when i do try to change it it comes up failed????i am seriuosly considering throwing this laptop at the wall.... >:(  maybe i should take it to pc world or sumat and get it checked over??

Have you changed the region more than 5 times - DVD drives ony allow you to change region code 5 times, as does Windows.

Try something like AnyDVD, not sure how much it costs...

You installed VLC and it still won't play DVD's?

First stop, re-build the laptop.

Then put on VLC again, if its still not working you have a hardware issue.

its me own fault really i suppose...i bought this laptop off an old friend and he assured me it played dvds thats what i wanted it for to keep me sane in the early hours when i aint got owt to do...i`ve checked that and it aint gone over the amount yet it still says 1 change left but even when i`ve put region 1`s in it still wont play em???i`ve come to the conclusion i`ve bought a pup and i daren`t tell swmbo she will kill us!!!! any ideas guys as wot to do???

First thing is region free software, such as AnyDVD suggested earlier. Then a decent MPG2 decoder, such as freebie ffdshow or commercial Cyberlink PowerDVD.

wots the rebuild option? how do you do that? i.e. can a muppet like me do it?  :o
