Thought you wanted to extend backwards? Then again, it was soooooo long ago...

We did, but then other events made that too problematic and risky. So, its going as is.

We have the quotes, one insurance company has approved the cheapest, the other hasn't.

Looks like a 12 week lead time on the bricks, once it does get approved, so end of summer it should be complete hopefully.

I don't need it, given my adversion to (larger) cylinder gas now ;D

The trick would have been to submit plans for the existing garage with an extra bit on the back.

Then complete as per the as is/was and planning plus building control permissions remain for a mega long period for the rest of it.

And it does not cost any more to get.

I still don't understand why you need planning permission to rebuild a pre existing structure?

But its good to see some progress on the job. :y

Something about it being at ground level now?  :-\

Finally, at least progress is being made. End of the summer though  :o  :(

Planning permission is required as the whole structure is being reconstructed.

This is a blanket rule to stop people buying a 200 year old barn, leveling it and then rebuilding similar to what it was.

It also ensures that the latest planning regs are met (as they do change)

If the garage was further from the house andboundary it would be permitted development.
