Hi all
So I've taken the plunge and brought an Induction hob, now I know I will need new pots & pans.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking at some very cheap sets on the internet but wonder if the build quality has an effect on how the hob will work. I've learnt that its the actual pot/pan that gets hot, not the hob.
I fear that a cheaper pot with cheaper materials will not perform as well as a leading brand, or is it another story of all the pots/pans being made in the same factory & having different logos placed on them?!

When we got married many many many moons ago, we had bought for us a set of Prestige pans. They were expensive, but while the SiL has got through umpteen sets of cheap pans, we still have our Prestige pans. When we bought an induction hob, we then bought ourselves a suitable set of induction Prestige pans. A case I think of buy cheap, buy twice (at least) ;) ;)

Any magnetic pans will be fine, we use LeCrueset cast iron, brilliant pans. :y

Yep, make sure you mention that you want to use them on induction hobs when purchasing.
We have mainly Stellar stainless steel pans (beware - not all stainless pans will work on induction!). They are indestructible. Burn something on them and you just have to boil up a mixture of dishwasher powder and water in them, and it just floats off leaving the pans gleaming. Only problem is, they have now changed their styling and we don't like the latest ones. ::)

We have copper based stainless steel prestige pans which are 20 years old now, still in great nick and close to indestructable.

We have copper based stainless steel prestige pans which are 20 years old now, still in great nick and close to indestructable.
Like wise ..... but ours have another 10 yrs on yours ;D Since been relegated to the caravan due to the induction hob in the kitchen. :y

thanks everyone, I've seen a few stainless sets that look great, obviously I will ensure they have enough of an iron content to be used on induction. (I've read it's the iron that makes the pans work on induction)

Thinking of getting an induction hob too, but never imagined my Prestige copper-bottomed stainless pans would work on it. Oh, and mine are 43 years old this week! It's been really helpful reading everyone's contribution.

Induction hobs are of limited use to people wearing pacemakers/heart monitors etc...
