Title: Radio coding
Post by: BazaJT on 06 March 2014, 18:05:05
A few days ago I had the battery off the car for charging, since replacing it I can't code the radio!I've pressed the as button and on/off switch as detailed in the cars handbook on the audio system but I don't get the "beep"the display just goes blank where the radio or day/date is shown.I've been told if I pull the radio from the dash and then push it back in this will re-set it so I will then be able to enter the code.Does this sound right or is it an "old wives tale"?If this doesn't work is there anything else it's likely to be?If the unit is fubar'd is there another head unit that will fit straight in?The one I have now is a ccr2006 and is the Bose type.My Elite has the traffic master system so the display screen is of the ordinary three line sort, with fuel figures etc. on the top line. The date/month/year or radio info in the centre and time clock at the bottom.

Have tried that, and whilst the illumination on the radio lights up[though it always has]there is still no beep and it won't allow me to enter code.

What does the radio display say whilst the radio is being turned on ?

If completely blank, then may be worth checking for supply voltages and blown fuses

Whilst  radio is off the day/date is displayed.Turning the radio on gets the word safe on the display.Pressing the as button and turning on the radio at the same time produces a blank screen where day/date or safe are to be seen, other two lines of display remain on view at all times.

Very strange!Went to work in the car this morning and thought I'd give radio one more try.Surprisingly it beeped,I entered code and away we went.Got to work operated window switch to close drivrs window and radio went off,let go of window switch and it turned on again!!I've tried to replicate this again but radio keeps on playing, however it now turns itself off at random intervals.but does come back on at press of on/off button.Anyone any ideas what's going on here,or where I can start looking[e.g.wiring fault to drivers door or some such]??
