Master Vamps dropped in his CV to a local company today, got a call to go for a 'Chat' at tea time resulting in him starting on Monday....... :D :D :D
He will ring the first company tomorrow and let them down gently, you never know what the future holds, so no point in not letting them know properly....... :y
Being much older and wiser I think there is more potential with the first company, but he must make his own decisions.......... :y
-
Well done ............. again! ::) :y :y :y
-
Obviously a man in demand. :y
-
Why the second thoughts :-\ first job sounded long term...

Both are permanent, first I though had better prospects, not really sure why, he is not saying, and tbh we are not pushing. It is possible that he did not want to move onto truck driving says swmbo............. :-\ :-\

Nice one, whats he doing? :y

He's been headhunted :y good luck and well done to him sounds like he's got more gumption tha my nephew!
-
Nice one ....... again :D :y
-
He'll go far! :y
-
well done master vamps. :y
-
Congrats :y
-
Just been chatting to him, his decision has primarily been financially driven, fair do's at 21, and the difference is quite significant and he will only be working 39 hours, anything over that is overtime........ :y
Apparently the wife of the owner was getting clothing for him after 5 minutes, he has to go to Argos and get some safety boots on account....... :y
-
TBH the demolition may actually have the longer term prospects as each building will have its own bespoke problems, so not easily automated. In the next 5 to 15 years all vehicles will drive themselves so there will be no professional drivers!

Not up here they won't........ ;) ;) However I understand what you say, we asked him why, but not questioned his decision, he must make his own choices, regardless of what we think, the bottom line being I had to congratulate him on putting out 2 CV's and getting 2 Job offers from them, who can ask for more than that? we are so proud and pleased for him........ :y :y
-
Demolition, the exact opposite of a growth industry... ;)
Bad jokes aside, I'm dead chuffed for him, many man points to spend in the pub also :D
-
Well 'Demolition man' has started his new Job, received a letter today offering an interview for another Job next week....... :D :D That is 100% CV drop to interview and 2 offers so far, all in a couple of weeks....... :y :y

Well done to young Mr Vamps..
I won't show this thread to Amy, mind .. she's applied for probably 20+ jobs over the last couple of weeks (office based general admin) and the only response she had was from a recruitment agency wanting to send her for an interview for a 0-salary 100%-commission-based telesales job in Reading :(

Hmmmm....some poor young lad just knocked my door looking for a direct debit for Care UK. I know that the job centre make them go for these jobs, gets them off the books even though they earn nowt. I really pitied him as I told him to piss off.

Said with such conviction Stemo ::)
Agencies are shits for that, they only push for their interests, not those of the person looking for work...
If it's just a question of working, and not the how or what, then McDonald's might be worth a look :-\
If she's looking for summat a bit more fulfilling than mere wages, then try here...

I should add for clarity, I only mention McDonald's as they always seem to be recruiting, but given your location Waitrose/John Lewis would be my main focus :y

Just been out with the dog and seen this lad under a tree sheltering from the rain, so asked him if he was ok. Short version: he was dropped off at ten o'clock this morning and won't be picked up till six. He has not signed anyone up so will get no money, if he does manage to sign someone he gets £10. He has had nowt to eat, nowt to drink and, if he wants a piss, he has to ask at the door. He is 21 and has been doing this for six weeks in which time he has signed up six people....sixty quid.
I felt like fickin crying for the lad....bastard charities.

So how is he supposed to live? these commission only jobs are nothing but a con, a company can employ loads of them at no cost, I would bet that they are also employed on a self employed basis so no overheads for the company....a con >:( >:(

Aye, she's been looking there every couple of days to check for new jobs - so far no responses, but time will tell :y They have an opening for a Wine Specialist at the head office; shame you need a diploma in wine ;D
She's also applied at McDeath and Pizza the Hut, though I'm quietly hoping she can find a nice 9-5 job somewhere so we get to keep our weekends .. because I've quite enjoyed actually having her around at the weekend (rather than before when she'd be at work Saturdays and some Sundays). Fingers crossed..
-
Indeed, she'll get there :y
There's been some fairly major restructuring going on at JLP over the last 18 months or so, and as the dust settles who knows what openings will appear :-\
My Brother and SIL both work there, and have done for over ten years, so it has genuine long term potential :y
