I have decided to install a home security system and would like some advice in what to look for etc this is what I am looking at
a 4 camera system
500 g hard drive{ that records for 2 weeks so that's enough]
seen cameras that say they are" 600tvl" what does this mean? are they the ones to go for? or is it all smoke and mirrors?
"IR CUT" is this any good?
anything else I should be looking at?
any makes to avoid as I don't know any of them
thanks
ps budget is about £300

tbh £300 is not enough for good quality CCTV system ???...for a DVR recording images from 4 camera should be as a minimum of 1 TB storage.
when I say good quality that is getting facial recognition of a known person (which is minimum you should be looking at)
the maplins and the like system really are not upto the job of protecting your house and I wouldn't have one protecting my garden shed

Sorry, but no chance of fitting anything of reasonable quality for 300 quid :)
Are you thinking about wired or wireless ?
Dome camera's ?
Stand alone monitor or something you can view on your tv downstairs in real time ?
Have a look at this site.
I've used them in the past and the tech backup is pretty good to be fair.
Its trade only so if you want to use them, give us a shout and you can use my cash account and i'll get the stuff delivered to site (your address) :y
Oh yeh, maplins stuff is okay for a cheap internal fit but not suitable if you want a decent system
