Bugger. I need better bulbs, as like all Vauxhalls, the dipped beam is shockingly bad.
Needs to be from Hellfrauds, as buggerall else around here except Euroshiteparts and GSF. So rules out Nightbreakers and +50s
Anyone tried their upgrade bulbs? I have a trade card, so that will take some of the sting out :o
-
Far better than their standard ones... tbh it's what I normally buy as and when required :y

I get the impression that Mrs TB was sent out in daylight, and Mr TB has only just remembered, having only just seen that it's now dark ootside ;D

Time constraints make online ordering unfeasible. Still waiting for some retarded egay seller to post me a radio that I won about a week and a half ago. So needs to be local.
Also, due to said retarded ebayer, I need to fit another radio to car. The only single DIN I have that fits is an NCDR1100. And given the Battlebus has a unique display, I'll be bodging a GID onto a Zafira TID that I picked up cheap. And making an MP3 interface. And removing all her Abba off her phone :-X

Bought these off the bay for the Omega - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OSRAM-H1-NIGHTBREAKER-HEADLIGHT-BULBS-90-BRIGHTER-/271028508108?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1a8ed5cc (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OSRAM-H1-NIGHTBREAKER-HEADLIGHT-BULBS-90-BRIGHTER-/271028508108?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1a8ed5cc) - arrived extremely quickly (2nd day after late night purchase), and great improvement ;)

Time constraints mean it has to be from a local shop. So off to the land of the inbreds in the morning.

Don't think he'd dare go there in a vehicle that is probably too power-challenged to leave rubber. :-X

Being wwd even summat with half that advertised output ought to at least raise a squeak from the front end... ;D

Whats that, :D as the dual mass lets go :-X :-X

Upgrade to HID's :)
I took out the D2S bulbs coz they went dull and installed a pair of H7 HID's instead... They just about fit with the D2S twisty holder thingy and work well too :)

Nope. Even on shit tyres.

Upgrade to HID's :)
I took out the D2S bulbs coz they went dull and installed a pair of H7 HID's instead... They just about fit with the D2S twisty holder thingy and work well too :)
Not possible, as this car was never sold with HIDs
-
Dont the tesco garage sell headlight bulbs?
Like all petrol stations now, they sell an array of unrelated shite, but nothing for cars.
-
If you pm me what bulbs you want for headlight,il pick some up from work and drop them round to you so you can have some spares

Apologies about the source, it's a bit Ravvinit ::)

To answer my own question it would seem not :-\
-
Why can't you install HID's...?
My Vectra didn't have HID's fitted as standard, I upgraded to 6000K HID's and never had a problem... not even with the MoT's... You don't even have to have the washers fitted either...
Iv seen plenty of cars that didn't come with HID's and theyre perfectly OK as long as the headlights are adjusted correctly so's not to dazzle, theres no problem with them....
-
Retrofitting aftermarket conversion kits is selfish, irresponsible and retarded.
If you want to retrofit HIDs, use the parts from the manufacturer, and DO IT PROPERLY!
-
Sorry, that came across a bit wrong.
But if you don't follow the DfT guidelines, you are likely to be increasing what you can see to the detriment of other drivers. Which is irresponsible, no different to driving everywhere with full beam on, ie at least I can see, and opps everyone else.
-
As I said, as long as the headlights are adjusted correctly....
Its not retarded installing aftermarket kit onto your motor at all.... but you apologised so that makes it OK I guess...
If they are installed correctly, they don't dazzle anyone - I have seen cars that do dazzle that have got HID's installed, so I know what it is you're getting at.....
-
Given the physics behind the way HID lamps work, there is a very simple reason that ALL FACTORY FITTED HIDS MUST have working headlamp washers and an automatic levelling system .. so fitting them and not fitting washers/levellers is both pointless and, IMHO, reckless.
It's all very well saying that YOU think they are fine .. it is the poor sod driving towards you who is suffering/blinded .. added to the fact that you THINK your lights are working well when they may be down to 25% efficiency due to dirt, but that dirt is causing glare/blinding light to oncoming traffic.
but of course, the laws of the land are only made to make other people money aren't they ... ?? no law has ever been passed to make the roads a safe place for ALL users .... have they ??+
:( :( :(

If you can't be bothered to research the facts yourself .. these may assist..
Head light levelling ..
"Internationalised ECE Regulation 48, in force in most of the world outside North America, currently specifies a limited range within which the vertical aim of the headlamps must be maintained under various vehicle load conditions; if the vehicle isn't equipped with an adaptive suspension sufficient to keep the headlamps aimed correctly regardless of load, a headlamp leveling system is required. The regulation stipulates a more stringent version of this antiglare measure if the vehicle has headlamps with low beam light source(s) that produce more than 2,000 lumens – xenon bulbs and certain high-power halogens, for example. Such vehicles must be equipped with headlamp self-leveling systems that sense the vehicle's degree of squat due to cargo load and road inclination, and automatically adjust the headlamps' vertical aim to keep the beam correctly oriented without any action required by the driver."
Headlamp cleaning
Dirt buildup on headlamp lenses increases glare to other road users, even at levels too low to reduce seeing performance significantly for the driver. Therefore, headlamp lens cleaners are required by ECE Regulation 48 on vehicles equipped with low-beam headlamps using light sources that have a reference luminous flux of 2,000 lumens or more. This includes all HID headlamps and some high-power halogen units. Some cars have lens cleaners fitted even where the regulations do not require them. North America, for example, does not use ECE regulations, and FMVSS 108 does not require lens cleaners on any headlamps, though they are permitted.

+1 :y :y
As said ideally retrofit using ALL oem kit, ie self levelling suspension/headlights and headlight washers. ;)

Why?

Self levelling suspension is not a requirement for Hid systems.

Self levelling suspension is not a requirement for Hid systems.
Agreed .. self levelling HEADLAMPS are however ... so .. if the suspension can act fast enough to maintain the requirement...
"Such vehicles must be equipped with headlamp self-leveling systems that sense the vehicle's degree of squat due to cargo load and road inclination, and automatically adjust the headlamps' vertical aim to keep the beam correctly oriented without any action required by the driver."
...then I guess they would be acceptable, however I would think that the response time would be too slow... but then I know nothing ...... :)

Yep, thats why I indicated both self levelling kights and suspension. But as you say you and I know nothing compared to the last word poster ;)

Your right there ;D
No way sl suspension is fast enough, why would gm fit it to hid cars? Because its for the rear ride height. NOTHING at ALL to do with hids.
What are kights? Btw? ;D
