Title: Rough idle
Post by: devonian on 21 March 2014, 15:39:05

So I decided to clean the breathers on the car.  Since then the car has a lumpy idle. Still goes fine .
I did notice the above which was at the back of the engine.
It looks like part of the breather system but could not see the other end that has broken off?
Could thisbe the cause of the lumpy idle?

Hope I have uploaded picture correctly.    :D

Lumpy idle can be caused by several things really, including, but not limited to ... MAF sensor failure / fault, Deteriorated coil pack tubes / knackered coil pack, Air leak and not forgetting my favourite (not) dodgy Injector/s

If you have broken vacuum pipes then this could also cause problems ... Best course IMO check the obvious things like the vacuum hoses to all relevant connectors and go from there

That looks as though it has snapped of from a spigot on the non return valve in the 1/2" pipe to the brake servo :-\

Indeed, and in answer to your other question that is almost definitely the cause of your lumpy idle :y

Oh darn it. I bet I did that whilst struggling to get the clip off the large breather pipe at the back of the engine.        :-[

Any idea on what the part is called, or partnumber?
