;D ;D ;D ;D It didn't get off to a good start. It died in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic when SWMBO was driving it one Saturday morning. As you might imagine she was not best pleased, especially when it started first time by the time I'd arrived on my bike - classic crank sensor failure! :y :y
-
Looked good though Andy and sure you will be sorry to see it go,as I was when my old Elite sold for tad less than that.
Comes a time when we just have to move on :)

It seems that even the later R350 is less road tax than mine. ???

It's fortunate that you are a man of almost 'unlimited wealth' Andy. :y :y ;)
£475 to you is probably about the same a £4.75 to me. :-\ :-\ :'(

The trip computer is now showing 21.3 MPG over the last 1400 miles (Mainly used for long journeys)........almost diesel levels of economy. ::) ::) ::) :)
-
Almost frugal, compared to a big v8 diesel... :y
It has been suggested that a supercharged big block 7.4l Chevy V8 running on LPG would return better mpg and produce fewer emissions for half the running costs of Scanias finest in hgv applications...

I've had the Merc for 18 months & keeping both was originally the idea. But in practice the Omega just wasn't getting used .... it'd not gone very far at all this last 12 months. Then SWMBO got a new car at Christmas and thought that keeping a Smart & the Merc would be a better combination than two 3 litre cars

Mine is showing 24.5 over the past 9330 miles .... just been to look ;) ... and that's all kinds of journeys, but mostly commuting 24 miles each way on local roads
-
Sorry Andy, but Mr Opti wins the fuel cost peeing contest, because petrol is significantly less than diesel :y
-
As a rough guide I get about 15-17 MPG in traffic....and about 25 MPG on a long run with 'Omega man' levels of traffic. ;D
Top gear (7th) pulls almost 36 MPH for each 1000 RPM, so the old girl has the potential to be economical in the right conditions. :y

From a 'soot chucker'. :o :o :o......I would have thought that 45 MPG was closer to the mark, Andy.
The Trip computer is probably 10% optimistic, too. :D :D ;)

Sorry to hear this mate. I bet you'll be putting up a wanted ad in a few months ;)

Don't forget that it's permanent 4x4 and weighs 2300 kg ;) Mine's a 7 speed auto too ........... can't think what the mph per 1000rpm is though :-\

2300 KG......it has certainly been at the pies. ;)
As you rightly say, 4x4 adds significant weight and therefore doesn't help with economy.
According to the book my CLS has a 'kerb weight' of 1810 KG .........and I thought that was a fat bastard. ;D ;D
-
I believe that the Range Rover weighs about 2500 KG.....but the next generation car will weigh significantly less.

I think the mpg of an E320 is around the 45mpg you suggested :y

And handy for parking those Smart cars ;)
It's a Smart Roadster Coupé and is surprising not as easy as you think. You can see bugger all out of the back window & you need to put the car well over in the parking space because you need the door wide open to get out of the car. ;)

When I got rid of my omega, it was like packing up drinking or smoking. Initially a bit of a wrench, soon offset by the amount of money I saved.
