Air filter box on fatherT's 2.2 needs replacing, the current screws have turned to mush. Sadly being parked at Birmingham Airport week after week has taken it's toll, lots of rust :(
So looking for complete airbox for 2.2 FL petrol :y

Every time I undo or come across a rusty screw or bolt, I normally replace with a SS one.
Fairly sure I got one off a 2.0 MFL kicking around someone are they the same?

I've always preferred the earlier airboxes with the clips rather than self tappers ........... as long as you don't loose them ;D

Ah, good point think this one might have clips on them, :-\

I should have replaced it earlier, or done something with them. I do wonder if I can get them out some other way, plus gas + brut force ::)

Sorry this is turning into a help thread, but if I do force old ones out can I just switch to clips? :-\

Airbox out and a hacksaw to deal with the screws... just lop the heads off and use a pair of pliers/molegrips for the threads :y
There is a crossover between no clips and no clip mountings, but a limited production run :-\

Try sawing a slot into the rusted screw heads for a flat blade screw driver

Sounds like a plan :y
They are 1.5mm self tappers I think? Will buy a few spares in anticpation of getting them out :y
