Hi there i tried to take the door switches out and it didn't turn the interior light off and i even disconnected the interior light unit on the right side of the steering wheel and it just stayed on still
i also pulled the fuse out and it did go off but the rear passengers interior lights came on but went really dim is there a control box that all the interior lights wire into that i could check. Thanks
:)
-
Sounds like you need a new headlight switch :-\
The rear lights only come on when the relevant rear door is opened or the switch is in the permanent position :y
-
Hi i take it you mean the main unit that controls all the headlights dash light etc i did pull that out but the interior light still stayed on it just never goes off even with the doors shut and even when i lock the car i just cant find if there is a unit that powers all the doors and interior lights. :)
-
The front interior light has three modes...
1. on when any door opened or unlocked.
2. on when the light switch is pulled out.
3. reading lights switched on/off separately.
The power comes from either the headlight switch or the door switch. If unplugging the door switch makes no difference, then the headlight switch is faulty :y
-
Thanks again for your help Il try and source one on ebay and try that then thanks again :y
-
Quickly pop out / remove the whole headlight switch unit and that may power down light and confirm faulty headlight switch unit ?
Not removed the one on my omega, but same thing happened on my old Carlton Diplomat :D
-
Hi there i tried removing the unit and it just stayed on still. I thought it strange because i thought if i took the switch out it would break the circuit. I don't really know what else to do other than replacing the the whole unit like one of the members has just recommended thanks again :)
-
Take the headlight switch out and shut the door. Does the light go out then?
If yes headlight switch is toast, if not, you have a significant wiring issue :-\
-
Hi there if i take it out and shut the door it stil stays on. That really doesn't sound good then does it thanks again :)
-
If memory serves, there is a printed circuit board up behind the light cluster, with some electronic components on it... wonder if something has shorted out ... perhaps a replacement board from a breaker would be worth a try ?? easier than rewiring the car !!
-
Thanks Il have to try and have a good look at the weekend thanks loads for all your help hopefully will be able to find the problem fingers crossed thanks again :y
-
Hi there if i take it out and shut the door it stil stays on. That really doesn't sound good then does it thanks again :)
Try that again and double lock the door, so that the timer delay switches off... it should dim down within a minute of the second press of the remote...
-
Hi i tried that if i remember correctly all my little window light switches went out but the light stayed on its a little strange :)
i just wanted to add all my door puddle lights all go on and off as normal when i open and close the doors if that helps :)
-
Apart from the loom, that only leaves the headlight switch, door switch and the light unit, all easy enough to change :y
When acquiring the new light unit, it must be identical to the old one as ones with sensors/built in microphones aren't interchangeable with ones that don't have them :y
-
Thanks again you have been a massive help i will have a good look at the weekend Il get the code off my light unit and try to match em up thanks again :)
-
hi there sorry for the late reply i couldnt get any time on the car for a while, i finally found the problem it was actually the headlight switch unit that was faulty thanks again for all your help :)
