Title: hmm - what thread to do - tyres, mot, insurance,
Post by: pscocoa on 24 March 2014, 17:16:10
Ok insurance it is  - Phaeton £290 with Lloyds Bank, Insignia £300, Omega £200 both with Swinton after £65 cash back (keep policy for 90 days to qualify). All covers with legal costs and protected ncb. Insignia and Omega policies cover 5 named drivers as well. A bit of a bugger when you have to renew all 3 at once.

That's still less than a third of what I pay...£1550+£1150 ::) If that helps any :y

5years protected ncb on the taxi, includes public liability and legal cover. Omega has 1year ncb, taken as a second policy 15 months ago, hence the low ncb, includes legal too...

Well to me, insurance is insurance. They are all out to rip you off and get as much cash out of you as is physically possible!
Mine costs me £1210 TPFT per year ... BUT ... I'm only 30, have only held my full licence for 2 years and have 0 years no claims bonus (every car I had broke for the first year and a half)!

My last car, A Vw golf Mk1 cabrio was stolen at christmas from a friends driveway. The idiot that took it left the car parked in a focus on a neighbouring garden ... I was so lucky not to get a claim logged against me, Adrian flux tried to pin it as my fault even though the car was locked and off the road when taken and caused me a world of pain and 2 months off the road

Must say I've been insured through Swinton for a good many years now and when I had my accident back in 2010[not my fault]they handled things very well indeed.

By the way pscocoa which Swinton was your wife brought up in?There are at least two that I'm aware of,the one in South Yorkshire where as it happens I was born and raised and then there's one on t'other side[wrong side!]of the Pennines. There may of course be others of which I'm unaware.
