Title: Oil level sensor
Post by: kcl on 26 March 2014, 08:57:54
Mine is playing up, giving "check oil level" every 12 minutes on MID, level is fine on oil stick. Is it possible to clean the sensor or is it only to put a new one in? I know I'll have to drop the sump but before that I'd need to decide is it must to put a new sensor in? What kind of money we are talking about, is this a "dealer only"- part or are there any pattern ones? One option is to cut the wires from sensor and join them to each other.

Does it still do it if you keep the oil level near the MAX mark on dipstick.  Its expected to get a warning on a cruise when its halfway between MIN and MAX

Only when in or very very near max it stays out, oil level dropping to the first tooth of stick it comes on display. Oil consumption has gone up since the oil blew out last winter... But the sensor has become more "sensitive".

I will be cutting the wires, very, very annoying when "check oil level" comes on MID every 12 minutes without a good reason. Oil level being in upper quarter of stick scale is ok IMHO.
