I thought removing it would be difficult - it wasnt but clipping it in is proving to be a pain. Its clicked on the tank side (rear) but the front won't click. Its as if being blocked but without the clip the filter goes fully in.
I've tried the clip that came off but still wont go in.

Is the filter the correct way round?
Haven't changed one for ages, what with lpg and all.

Yes. Arrow facing front of car
-
Done
Put the clip in the pipe first then pushed the filter in

Which guide, I can only find http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90647.0
which has
Fit the new fuel filter clips into the ends of the fuel lines - they should click into place - then fit the new filter into the fuel lines
-
That's the guide for the thermostat. But you're right, I didn't read it properly, it does state putting the clips in the fuel lines first. :-[ would have saved me an hour
