I have just got a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD 2003 and on the MOT advisory, it says, other areas of corrosion to nearside and offside chassis legs.
Where do I look under the car to find the areas they are talking about? So I can see how bad the corrosion is.
Anyone know what is involved and what the cost might be to get it welded?
Is this normal for the 2003 Omega to rust there?
Thanks

have a look behind the front wheels at the chassis, usualy go`s on the chassis behind the strut. :y

The tester will probably have marked the areas in question; the bloke I use does so with a yellow paint stick.
You're likely to be looking just above where the subframe bolts on; there are a number of panel joints there, and the area gets a bit crusty. Hence the advisory.
As it's an advisory, you might get away with a little grinding and a thick coat of stonechip. If not, then I'd expect to pay for no more than an hour of labour.

I decided before spending any money on the car to put it in for an MOT in my local garage and managed to get it in this afternoon.
To my amazement it passed straight through and the only advisories on the new MOT were for all the 4 tyres being close to there limits. No mention about the corrosion. I gave him the old MOT before the test.
I think I will have a look, now I know where to look and grind any rust out and stone chip it. Surely there must have been some there.
Thanks both for your help.
