Title: Absolute madness
Post by: miggy on 11 June 2008, 21:27:54
Got into work this morning and started to check my emails, i had a general email titled paint name, i did not open it and went on checking the others.

At about 2 oclock one of our production managers rang me to ask about my oil orders, during the conversation he asked if i had read the email about paint, i said no, have a read he says and see what you think.

(We also deal in the production of special paints)

Well, long story short, from today we can no longer request paint in the colour of Black, black paint will be given another name which is being discussed by the works directors............they say the word black offends and needs to be changed............

I am not racist in anyway and live and let live is my outlook..but this mail came out 10 days after the company appointed a new vice president.........who was born in South Africa.

Madness......pure madness.

We are who we are. Should i be offended if i'm referred to as being white? Many years ago i shared digs with a black couple from Ghana. They were kind welcoming people & i learned alot from them.
Home made bread & fried chicken has never tasted as good. Maybe those supposedly in the know should stop trying to make our minds up for us. :question

Take the opportunity to brown-nose.  Suggest the name Melanie, it is based on the Latin for black.  ;)

That is crazy Miggy as I know that blacks like to be called blacks, and it is offensive to them (at least all the ones I have ever known, and still know in South London) to be called "coloured" or anything else. :o :o

They clearly state that you are white, we are black!! That is a fact. :y

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the color. For other uses, see Black (disambiguation).

Black is the color of objects that do not emit or reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum; they absorb all such frequencies of light. Sometimes black is described as an "achromatic color", but in practice it can be considered a color, as in expressions like "black cat" or "black paint".

How the hell can it be called anything else for chrissake!! ::)
