Nothing new there, but it's the position of this one. Normally they are at the top of the coil, never seen one go here on an Omega. That said, it's a KYB, so hardly surprising!

Manufacturing fault :-\
Or perhaps a stuck stone or summat causing a pressure point...

Fatty commented on the casting being poor :-\
Lot of space around where it snapped, so can't see it being a stone :-\
Everything on FatherT's car does rust badly though, although bodywork wise it's good. For best part of the last 8-10 years it's spent every week parked at Birmingham Airpot, I don't think the kerosene in the air did it any good.

Having seen it, I'd say not great manufacturing. Appears to be spots of rust inside, and bubbles in the metal.
I've found KYBs do rust like buggery though

Did you have time to check your rear spings?

Not yet, but on the drive here, both sides are the same, I think it was the way it sat at Brackley.
Both sides look same and above tyre easily, need to inspect if fully. Think I'll pop the cambelt cover off in a few k just to double check things.

You won't find any springs under the cambelt cover, Tunnie.

Cambelt and waterpump was changed yesterday too, not 100% happy with it. So want to double check it :y
