Title: How much lower.
Post by: tooleater on 07 April 2014, 11:36:38
As I'm looking to get Daz replace the springs and shocks on my Facelift 2000 3ltr Mv6 with Vx parts which are going to be serious ££ s :o. Can someone tell me how much different the motor going to look if I install aftermarket set. Ie how much lower +stiffer in comparison to Vx running on standard 17 Mv6 rims :y

Standard omega is 675 mm to the wheel arch
Face lift mv6 is 15mm lower.
After market are mostly 30mm lower than standard. So a further 15mm lower than face lift mv6 (lowered sports chassis) as you have. Assuming your springs are lsc. As you know they are expensive so the previous owner may have gone for cheaper ones.

It's dropped more than that on Nsr, that's the side diff leaking could the oil have knackered a bush, or is the broken pigtail on Nsf contributing to the slouch. Hence full set..

It would do, as the spring is broken. The bush might be knackered but I'd be surprised if the dif oil caused it. (Might help it on the way though I suppose)

Btw, I'd advise against lowering the rear more than 20mm, as the settings are difficult to achieve below that point. Front is ok. Ime.

Thanks Chris, your last post sealed it for me about not going lower than 20mm on rear. The drop on rear May well be a duff spring, so Vx springs it is, will get a T.C and explore all avenues to reduce price. 1 more ? Are front struts/shocks different as well :y

As others have said, 30mm on the rear is too much if you need to negotiate speed bumps etc. Definitely too low if you have the chavtastic Irmscher saloon rear bumper  :-[

It also give quite a lot of camber on the rear as well, though my (normal height) MV6 has more anyway due to other issues, with no detrimental effects.

Yes. But not any more or less expensive for being lsc. So you do need lsc shocks for the face lift mv6. They need to be the right ones.

Mines 30 lowered at the front with Irmscher springs.

15 lower at the back with mv6 lsc springs.

B4 all round.

No issues day to day. Just need to take speed humps at a sensible speed or the front air dam rubs the floor a bit otherwise.

Small bridges are the problem around here, you need to remember to slow right off. That said, the Irmscher one does hang a lot lower than standard.
