Advise please,
Last year on holiday key parted and micro chip fell out ,chip found, key put back together and we went on our way.
At home great idea I thought, replace the battery and add a spot of super glue to stop key from parting.
Not a good idea a button has failed and now I cant part the key ,yes you guessed it because of the super glue.
Phone Vauxhall for price of new key ,and have been told £150.00 for new one.
All I want to do is lock the car ,so could I disconnect the alarm, from under the rain scuttle and just use the key to lock and unlock the car, or will I have other problems.
Your thoughts would be very great full.

You need the chip...
Keys, fobs and chips are individually peanuts... Most of the £150 quoted is reprogramming...
Tryhttp://theboy.omegaowners.com/tech2/prices.shtml for prices for programming details/cost :y

Sorry miss led you, the key parted and the chip was found, I replaced the chip pushed the key back together with the button and battery part, and went on our way.
But to stop it coming apart again I super glued the two half together ,every thing worked fine until last month ,when one micro switch rubbers started to play up. Now I cant part the two sections, to replace the case.

A new case is only a few quid on eBay so if you destroy your existing casing very carefully, you should then be able to rebuild the guts of the old one into the new :y

Good stuff that superglue :y :y What else did you expect though mate ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) ::) ::)
Most people just superglue the chip into the horseshoe ;)

As Andy said, try Ebay for a new case, but have you tried using a scalpel to cut through the superglue at the case joins? Go at it carefully and don't rush and with luck .....

Thanks Ron ye will try to take the unit apart.
It all started when switching of the engine only to find the key in the barrel and me with the rest in my hand
I know to some, glue sounded stupid but the clips on the horseshoe had broke so fitting the new unit back to the key, it would not hold or stay locked,no matter how many new cases i brought, hence 1 small drop of the super.

I think you should have just had a new key cut, would have been less hassle.

I understand now which bits you've glued :(
