Title: Dynamic DNS providers
Post by: Jimbob on 09 April 2014, 06:07:56
I have been using DYNDNS to do Ip address to hostname conversions for years.
They are cancelling the free service :(

Plenty others out there I know, but anyone got any recommendations or avoids?

Cheers

Most router providers will supply one. Most DNS providers will have a similar option. Not that difficult to make, if you can control the DNS server its sat on.

Which reminds me, I need to move away from dyndns myself ;D.

There was another freebie I was using, buggered if I can remember name until it spams me again asking me to confirm I still use it ;D

was looking at noip - free, but login monthly to keep active
or dtdns - $5, but no hassle afterwards.

That was the one I was thinking of.

What router have you got?

at the moment....Home Hub 3
/me hangs head in shame.

Likely to soon be replaced with something better when other things stop going wrong and costing money.

HH3 does support both those offerings

I use no-ip at the moment, no problems beside the annoying monthly login.. I ought to just do it myself but the ol' CBA factor creeps in ;D

I didn't realise it was stopping.  Ballz!  I need to speed up installation of the home-based VPN server :-[
