If you like old grannies ...  :)

http://www.fordgranada.com/index.php

I had a 2.8 mk II for several years then a Scorpio then the first miggy ..
it was the Granny that introduced me to big, comfortable, powerful cars ... never looked back since then .. :)

Lovely car, but to be honest, how much of this is 'rose Coloured Glasses' noisy, slow but great gear changes and heaters.  :y

No sorry Mike, The Sweeney was in the 1970s (I watched it as a new series then) and they used Mk1 Granada's! ;D ;) when I had a Ford Cortina Mk3 and loved the thought of going out with Jack Reagan! :-* :-* ;)

If you don't believe me there are plenty of web sites on this (still) great show and this is just one:

No No No, yes the Sweeny was the 70's, I have the CD collection, the car advertised was from the 80's. The Sweeny used a Consul 3.0L GT not the granada, though the same body shape. LZ, I am right, this time.  ;D ;D ;D

Edit, check out your link, and then appologise Publically  ;D ;D ;D :y

Ford Consul. like I said. if they later used Granada's they were Mk 1's

I had one of those.  Only it was called a Scorpio, because it was a German model.  It was the only car I ever bought new - 2.8 GL auto, I think it was.  I had it for 9½ years, then the oil seal at the back of the gearbox failed on a motorway in Belgium.  Belgian law states that whoever recovers the car from the highway is entitled to do the repair.  The hamfisted incompetent morons dismantled the gearbox and put it together again wrong, and my lovely car expired a few months later.  It had done about 200,000km.

Before that I had a 2.8i GLS auto for a couple of years, but that developed a cracked cylinder head - it wasn't that old.

And after that I had a 2.4i GL auto of the hatchback variety - only got rid of that 4 years ago - sold it for £200 to a man who planned to fill it up with set-top boxes and drive it to Spain (it was a LHD model).

Now I'm happy with my Omega. :) :) :)

Where I CORRECTLY state 1970s and you so quickly jump in and state, incorrectly, that it is the "1980s" and a Consul not a Granada is involved ( where do I state in this posting it is a Granada?)

I then follow on later to state the Granada is used in the main, but with a Consul as well.

LZ's first response, I rest my case......

Yes indeed, the great 1970s!  We all wanted one of these, especially once they had appeared zooming around in 'The Sweeney'   Bloody lovely!

The car linked was from the 80's

But I was talking about The Sweeney a 1970s show which you claimed was in the 1980s!  Check Mate!
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

To clarify one thing although the Granada went out of production in 1985, it was for all intense and purposes a car designed and built in 1970s style and engineering, as indeed was the Mk 4 & 5 Cortina (out of production in about 1982/3 if I remember correctly.

I had the 3.0 Granda in PX againt my Daimler Sovereign 4.2 when I did a business deal.

Nice smooth drive, the guy had neglected it, no reverse on the auto box and need a HG doing.  Sorted out the HG by having the heads skimmed and ne set of gaskets atc.

Then the exhaust started blowing, had a new one fitted, hat arvo the flipping thing caught fire under the hood and was a write off.

Smooth drive though with that V6 rumble.

I had a 79 model 3.0L GHIA, the one before this one without the motorway barriers for bumpers :).

Typical yank tank though, wallowed like a pig in the bends but really comfy on the motorway :).

I would have thought, with its Sweeney connection, it has to be worth £8,000 - £10,000 :-/ :-/.  If I had the money Amigo I would certainly buy it if for sale. :y
