Hi
I have one 96mod opel omega b 2.5 v6 cd caravan, which originally did not have the multifunction steering wheel. Now I've switched steering wheel Multifunction steering wheel (taken from one 98mod), but I do not get the steering wheel buttons to work.

What headunit is fitted?
Two things spring to mind...
1. You need all the associated wiring loom.
2. The head unit might not be compatible.
The first item is a definite, the second a possibility :y

Loom only fitted mid `97 onwards in the mini facelift

It is fitted a VDO CDR500 radio in the car, :)

Makes no difference what head unit is fitted, the loom for steering wheel audio controls won`t be present in your vehicle
-
Only mentioned the head unit as it might not support the controls... loom is rightly the first item to address though :y

Wouldn't a compatible air bag squib be needed also...?
-
Nope, all but one very early model were fitted with a minimum of drivers airbag :y
Might need the rotary coupling with the extra wiring, but airbag assembly should be fine :y

I have switched slip ring / link to a straight number of wires. (Had to do it to get the connector to the airbag to fit). but the steering wheel still does not work. I also checked the wires Forward. :)

Im sure there is an option to enable / disable them using tech2.
Something along the lines of stereo = present.
Also amends the MID display.
