Post by: gav mv6 on 16 April 2014, 17:59:48
2000 mv6 preface lift , sold to a 'mate' few months later was told wont start parked on my drive u want it back ? , well i had to ,didnt i ? mv6 , full leather, irmscher / prodrive kit , lpg ,seems unwilling to fire up at all tester seems to point to crank sensor , now as i obtained this car as a none runner i would prefer to obtain a second hand sensor just to see if she runs , and then if ok will go see my local vaux  dealer for all the required bits ,other wise if no runs may break or sell complete  ,please is there anyone out there who has a sensor i can buy thats a good un to see if shes going to play ball ?

thanks

Crack off the 19mm fuel pipe where it connects to the fuel rail and crank it over to see if your getting fuel upto the injectors  ;)
Just for a few seconds though  :)

Should be the same across the range.

Common problem on LPG, where someone assumes they can run on LPG with hardly any petrol in the tank, but in reality the Petrol Pump is priming all the time ready for when the LPG runs out, low or no petrol in the tank burns the pump out, which wouldn't happen on a Petrol Only Car as the pump wont run without the engine running.

If it's an estate with low fuel, you'll need three cans to get the bastid to fire :-X

10 litres should do it then, as the tank is a different shape :y

thats why im shocked lad i sold it to has had lpg cars before and used to convert a few as well , guess he just thought car was not worth anything?? , even on my 24v lpg'd  sierra i always make sure there is a at least quarter tank petrol as never want a run out syndrome ,some people eh ?!

Easy enough fix though if it is the pump, 20 min job max, just get a complete plastic pump insert from a breaker (any Omega Petrol model should do it) also get the Top Plate cover as well, in case the pipes your old one fall apart when taking it apart.  ;)

Also worth changing the Filter if its been sucking up air and crap from the bottom of the tank.  ;)

Fixed the quote reply for you.

Your also need the tool to remove the hose clips, but I just use some small to mediem size cutters and a flat blade to get them off and back on again.  :y

good news ! she runs !!!

ended up using power probe to trace circuits on fuel pump side as haynes manual diagrams german ?!, originally thought was fuel pump got a good used one for 10 pounds so no real loss either way fitted it but not that , used probe and checked pump fires on own , so checked through wiring right back up to main fuse board , mm fuel pump relay seem fubar , removed test with probe smeg all , check injection relay that fires fine , picked up fpr from a vectra  same anyway fires straight up ,  :y
gonna buy bits to swap suspension over as not good , then cambelt  and oil change , jobs a good un  :)
