Title: 2.2 rear brake pads
Post by: plym ian on 21 April 2014, 10:10:21
Are these the same as a 2.0 as mine are worn and I have a spare set from when I had my 2.0.

Don't want to start job only to find out they don't fit.

Cheers Ian

See what others say but I would think so, provided the discs are the same re vented or non vented for the pin lengths.

I'm unsure as the 4 pots had a calliper change at some point. :-\

Same across the range from Carlton/Senator B onwards :y

Only a twenty minute job to change them :y

About an hour per side, depending on how easily they come apart/refit :y

It's one of those jobs, if all goes to plan, then they're a doddle, but... ::)

Did the pads today bloody took 1hr on drivers side just couldn't shift one of the pins holding pads in. Even contemplated changing calliper at one point :)

On passenger side disc was quite rusty on rear of it why is this?

Both front and rear don't really wear well on the inside, the front discs corrode really badly on the inside, even with daily use.

Front:

Rear:

Not a sticking piston either, standard normal daily use. These were from an auto, so more than say a manual.

Number of people have had exactly same as above

If both sides of the car are the same then all well and good... but the suggestion was that the inside of one disc was rusty, which suggests a problem ::)

Ouch...

Sticky pads the most likely cause... presume all scrubbed up nicely and coated in copperslip now...

The rears on the four pots don't really do anything, hence getting full of crud and sticking. V6s, especially the 3.2 driven hard, get through rear pads almost as quickly as the fronts. This is because the TC depends on them, summat which won't concern a four pot owner :y

I've had comments about rusty rear discs for about the last 3 or 4 MOT's, FatherT's 2.2 same, still stops fine.  :y

Yeah they were full of crap :y

I gave them a good wire brushing off where the pads sit. Also you saying sticky pads I did have to hit one with a hammer to loose it off :)

It's nearly always the inners on the rear brakes that are stuck/rusted in - been the same since the Carlton days.  Rear pads are the same right through the range, Carlton, Omega 4 and 6 pot - only difference on the Omegas is longer pins on the vented disc variants.
