A friends father has a Opel Astra 1.6 on a 03 plate and the alarm has started going off randomly. Does anyone know of any common problems and the best way to fault find?

How about the bonnet switch like an Omega :-\

TBH Andy I`ve never had a problem with an alarm so it`s something I`ve never had to fault find. can it be done with tech 2?
I was thinking faulty sensors or alarm ecu.

My dad had his alarm going off on his omega 2.2 facelift. Eventually tracked it down to small spider in the sensor :D
Released a whole can of insect spray in the car and left it overnight with windows closed ;) and did the trick :y

I'm sure that TechII can tell you exactly what set the alarm off. On an Omega, if the bracket for the alarm switch is bent, you get the situation where the bonnet is only just opening the contacts, so when the bonnet heats up in the sun, it flexes, closes the contacts again, alarm thinks the bonnet is open so triggers the alarm ...... just a thought. ;)

Correct Mr Beanz Tech II can read the alarm log which lists the last 10 (i think) reasons the alarm was triggered. Even the code reader that shall remain nameless can do that.

Thanks for the info guys :y
Mr Beanz (I like that) I didn`t know that so it`s worth a shot and thanks Captain Zok for the code reader info ;)
