Title: Door mirror glass
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 26 April 2014, 18:18:19
I had a slight altercation in a tight spot with a VW Golf this afternoon!  >:(  There should have been room for both of us to get through and I was hard on the left and thought it was OK, he didn't get over and our mirrors smacked cracking the glass in mine.  I stopped, he didn't. Tosser!  >:(

Anyway not that it would have made any difference had he stopped, although I'd have liked to have made my feelings known!  ::)

So! Door mirror glass!  :)  Dealer only? Any decent pattern suppliers about?  :-\ I bought a cheap ebay mirror glass for my Merc last year and the electrical connections didn't match and I ended up soldering the connections, so not too keen to go down that road!  ::)  :-\

Any advice as always will be appreciated!  :y

Don't do what I (foolishly) did when something similar happened to me - why do the ar**holes never stop?
I used one of those plastic stick-on things that fit over the broken mirror: they are USELESS! Apart from not allowing the demister to work, any attempt to clean them results in a damaged surface which is worse than useless.
Lesson learned.

Ron.

Here's one on e-bay.

If you are ever near Midsomer Norton I am sure I could find you one as a gift in my heap of spares.

I bought one for myy PFL (admittedly about 10yrs ago), and it was only about £10 retail from dealer (maybe plus vat). Worth a quick call, even if it results in a laugh ;)

TB, prices have changed since your purchase - I enquired about 2 years ago and my main dealer refused to sell me just the glass and insisted that it was only possible to buy the complete door mirror, for £50 + VAT!

Possible the mongrel was too lazy/incompetent to find just the glass...  :-\

Thanks, TB. It's good to know for future reference, if separate glass is available - this bloke was insistent that it was all or nothing!
