Having seen in the news recently parts like bumpers being stolen off vehicles, is this the start of a new trend as this poor woman has found to her cost?

My friend has got a 59 plate corsa he finished work at 9pm woke up at 9 to take his girl friend to work to find his front end missing the whole complete lot. :-\
