Title: Any Radio Amateurs on here?
Post by: Bigron on 27 April 2014, 21:58:15
After a conversation with Andy, in which I discovered that he, like me, is a licenced Radio Amateur, I wondered if there are any more of us geeks on the forum?

Yes I saw that and also wondered how many people are into that these days.  :-\

I was a CB'er back in the day, but never attained the giddy heights of the 'Radio Ham'  :)

I am a somewhat lapsed Ham nowadays, Sir Tigger, but it might be worth re-starting if there are enough like-minded forum members - I still have my 2 metre mobile Transeiver.
Back in the days when I was in field service, it was useful to keep in touch with colleagues, for both professional and social reasons, but with the ubiquitous cellphones and Skype there didn't seem to be the same incentive.

Had the question been asked back in the 70's suppose I would have been waving my hand as a G8(3 letters) Licence holder (fairly sure its still valid though).

But as the work front has been involved in the Radio Communications and Telecoms for the last  30 odd years, kind of killed it for me as a hobby.  ;)
