Title: York.
Post by: cam2502 on 28 April 2014, 17:19:25
Afternoon gents, I'll be staying in York at the end of June, can anyone recommend a hotel in or close to he city centre? Preferably with parking or parking nearby.
I've stayed at the Queens hotel before. It was ok, just thought I'd ask you well travelled lot  ;D

I know Ledon Bridge is closed to traffic. Trouble is, if you don't know what "Ledon Bridge" is, by the time you reach the signs to tell you only buses, you have nowhere to go. Dimwits.

Still, that was a month ago, and fine not yet arrived (TB touches wood).

The signs were so small, I thought it was Ledon ;D

Oddly enough, that evening it was on local news that a councillor was moaning it was simply being used as a cash-cow for the local authority

The shit may well yet hit the fan. The closure and subsequent issue of penalty notices was deemed illegal by some government agency or other. People are naturally asking whether  they can claim their money back but the council are, thus far, resisting.

Just looked at the reviews Cleggy. They weren't good.  :(
Looks lovely from the outside, bit of a dump inside. Looks tired.
Booked into Novotel instead.

That's a shame, used to be one of old Victorian station hotels, and they would only serve half pints in the bar. Glad you checked :y
