Title: Estate spoiler
Post by: Terbs on 29 April 2014, 14:12:48
Hi all...

The lacquer on my estate spoiler (Nocturno Blue) is peeling off. I have read one post in which Daz says he broke windows getting spoilers off. Mine is a Prodrive version.
Is this held on by nuts and bolts, and easy to get off...or would it be best to rub down and spray on the car. I don't want any broken windows !!!!! :(

Mine is irmscher, but it is held on with studs/nuts and a lotof sealant.
nuts are accessed through cutouts in the trim that are covered with little sticky coloured disks.
Do take care separating the sealant but with steady pressure mine came away ok. Think there was 4 nuts, but not100% sure
Al.

Prodrive ones are glued on only, but near imposible to get them off without damage to the spoiler or the Hatch.

Respray in situ would be my choice, easy enough just to mask up around the spoiler.  ;)

Get yourself on a footstool and rub it down, mask and paint in situ. Trying to get the spoiler off is probably going to cause more hassle than it worth. Easy job to repair when its on and you also have no worries about marking it when trying to put it back on.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I am going to follow the advice and strip and paint in situ..... go down the sensible route rather than try to be clever !!! :y
