hi, i just brough this car, its just past its mot ,so im guesing that the brakes are okay. but they dont feel sharp, very spongy feel , they seem to stop quick but seem to need excesive presure on the pedal, is that normal feel for an omega. or if not has any 1 any ideas, oh it had an advisory on mot that front pads were low and discs wearing thin , could it be that. :'(

The brakes have to have serious problems before the MOT is failed. Sounds like it needs new disks and pads on the front anyway. That'll help. While you're at it bleed some clean fluid through the system and check the state of the rear pads and disks.
In addition, the vacuum line that feeds the brake servo is worth a check as they can chafe and start leaking.

Check the inside face of the disc. It's not unusual for them to be rusted.

If you've not driven an omega before, omega brakes do take a bit of getting used to. But new discs and pads, along with bleeding the brakes with the caliper pistons pushed back in fully, can help.
Best quality/value option is the vx front axle disc and pad set. On trade club they come out just over a £100 last I looked.
