Please note the dates are the first weekend in September, which is the week before the Onion fair.
Does anyone going have a specific preference to Adults Only field or Family field?
As soon as I have confirmed the special price with Gail, I'll be looking at taking deposits :)
-
Family for us please, be the 4 of us, likely extended before hand stay
-
Thats a better weekend for me (not payday weekend)
HD might have to make an appearance this year :y
-
HD is *expected* to make an appearance :P
I'll bring her some sausages :D
-
Adults Only for us please.
-
Deposits are being taken now.
I'd like to firm up numbers with the site owner in the next few days, so please get those deposits to us ASAP :y
-
In addition, we do need a couple of extra rules this year, following a poor review last year :'(, based around consideration of other people on the campsite.
1) Noise levels when it gets late need to be kept down a bit
2) Keep cars and outside cooking/stuff within your own pitches (or around the shelters we put up), esp if adjacent to a non OOF camper
I hope you understand the reasons why we need to do this, as poor reviews do impact the business that the owners are running, and will impact whether we will be welcomed in future events.
Thank you for your understanding.

Can you book me a tent space Jammie not particularly bothered which side I am on xxxx

See what happens, when HD doesnt turn up, to keep you lot in your place ::) ;D

I'm keen to get numbers tied down, so if interested, please let me know asap!
-
Adult section please, probably a tent sized space :y
-
If I come it will be last minute and me and the missus will stay in a hotel, so no need to worry bout me in your booking with Gail :y
-
Deposit paid today, Me & Mrs E, not bothered which side of the fence we are on .. :)
-
Please note, those wishing to stay longer need to contact the site owner to arrange the booking, but also let me know, as OOF will be collecting all the monies.
Ensure you let Gail know that you are part of the Omega Owners car club when you speak to her.

Does bringing a trailer cause a problem? Also do the tent spaces have electrical availability :-\

What size trailer? I believe all pitches have hook-ups available, esp in the family field, although somethings in some areas, we have to feed from adjacent unit due to lack of outlets.
-
Nothing too big, more of a hypothetical question tbh :y

Are you thinking a trailer you tow behind a car, or something that you need a better licence for? ;D
-
Car sized, unless the numbers come up, in which case it would be rude not to bring a workshop along ;D
-
I'm still keen to get numbers confirmed with the owners ASAP, so please drop me a PM if you wish to attend this year :y
-
tbh, it might be worth a flash in the GDA as I rarely look in here and had no idea about the Newent until your PM :y

Inclined to agree ..if this whole thread "Newent Chit Chat" was in Gen Dis it "might" encourage a bigger uptake ??
-
We we're going to Newent, but the date change means we will be in Cornwall :(
-
Moving to GD, as suggested above :)

One of theses any use? Thinking the ramps might be handy for slushbox/exhaust work...

Got first dibs on this non-HGV workhorse:

... when it's replacement arrives ... ;)

Would the ramps on that support an Omega on the level? Guessing they're not hydraulic...

Just lift and fit 'em into place on the end of the beavertail, Al.
Then drive two of these up them:

:y
-
How secure would they be if the car was driven onto the bed, then the ramps lifted and supported on a couple of oil drums and the car then driven back onto the ramps for chassis access :-\

You'd need to fill each 45 gallon drum with water, Al.
Then position the car so that it's front wheels were on the beavertail, and the rears immediately over the barrels. Do-able I suppose, but a bit of a ball-ache in reality ... ???
Then there's my 'fee' to factor in ... ;)
-
Ah yes, the fee... ;D
Did wonder about the practicalities of it tbh :-\

On the confirmed list, theres only 1 caravan attending...
1 caravan and TB present i would be getting nervous, Mr E :-X ;D

For those that have never been before, this is a great opportunity to meet fellow Omega lovers.
For those needing to appease better halfs, there is decent shopping in Gloucester (and most of the OOF Widows disappear off there in a group on the Saturday), and the beautiful Forest of Dean is on the doorstep.
-
Due to my stupidity, I was posting on last years thread ;D
Anyway, we were talking about BBQs. Entwood has one, and Taxi Driver was asking if Entwood would have room for another? That should see us through then, I reckon?

I think nobody remembered a camera this year :-[
As to the aftermath of the pickled eggs, well....

Arrived on Friday afternoon, soon had the tent up, but this poxy porch/extension we'd got took friggin' hours >:(, admittedly it'll be much quicker next time... ...only this one needs to go back as its faulty.
Everyone slowly arrived, and before long the BBQ was on, and my favourite applejuice was flowing... ...which meant Entwood had to do the chip shop run ::). Mark rather foolishly put an Islay malt in front of me, which was sipped in time honoured fashion, putting the world to right. Warmed the cockles of my heart. As is the tradition at OOF meets, the evening ended with some cheese and biccies, washed down with a little LBV port.
I was quite tired Saturday morning, but following tradition, a good grease infusion cured my ailments, all lovingly prepared by DTM, Mrs TB, Mrs Jimbob and Jimbob ensured the brew was on. I was only entrusted to cooking the beanz ::).
Having reached that utopia of nobodys car needing anything major doing, most of us went out sight seeing for the day, as a group. Personal thanks to the Jimbobs for the taxi service, as I really do not think I should have driven myself!
Arrived back to the site, a couple more turned up, I watched MDTM break Tonygnome's dashboard with his big fists, before the evening started. More applejuice, more BBQ, more port etc, all sat around the firepit in the photos above.
This morning was another breakkie, to help with the over indulgence of the night before.
Another thoroughly enjoyable OOF weekend, I enjoyed every minute, so thank you to everyone who came, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
My one regret is that I managed to miss NF, over in the grown ups field, all weekend - I did pop round Saturday evening, but the caravan looked like all lights out, yet car was there, so I didn't like to knock in case you'd had an early night. And looked like you'd left when I popped over this afternoon :-[. I hope you enjoyed your holiday :y

No matter what the 'ins & outs'.... "ooer Matron!" ::)... or the 'did & didn'ts', you've all had a lifelong mindchanging experience this past weekend, to be cherished & recollected well into the future (wellllll, at least until the next meet anyway! ;D). This 'OOF' thing has a habit of grabbing you when you least expect it, just ask TB, Gixer or Daz if you dont believe me!!!!!! :D;D :y
-
Don't tell Stmo, but the new, improved svelte Daz is a sight to behold ;D

I got back, via a detour to Oxford to pick up a belt sander, and was absolutely shagged. I think last night I was in bed by 9:30 as well... ...and won't be much later tonight :-[
