1st floor btw. It's an upstairs flat.

£1250

It's probably less than £50 in materials.

Wow, prices of FSB materials must have gone down a lot since I was buying them 10 years ago! If only other prices had done the same.

Guttering will be around that facia and soffit will be £100 then then cladding and fixings how much is there?
-
Cladding is just a PVC sheet about 1ft by 6ft above two windows.

Another £20 should cover that then, so around £500-£550 should be a fair estimate. :y but I suspect it will be well over the grand. ::)

Here's the offending article
It's the section between the two drain pipes, above the two windows and the porch.

Sharp intake of breath and a tut ::) that'll need scaffolding. ::) ::) that's what they will say. :y
-
Yep, then they'll scamper up there on a ladder and bounce it across as required.
-
Oh yes, scaffolding needed.. I stand by my original number..
BTW my next door neighbour does roofing/guttering/etc/etc if you want a second quote
-
Yes first quote was 1200.
Down to £890 so far.
-
The PVC-U cost bugger all, bought a stack of it to do the MIL's large double garage and front and had change from 200 notes.
Guttering costs very little.

Yes, it's always the taking of the wee wee which forms the most expensive part of these quotes. Often comes under the heading of labour or miscellaneous

From screwfix just the guttering, downspout, running outlet and two round to squareline adapters is about £80. I take it you are going for squareline, so much nicer.
But, as has been said, probably less than £200 the lot.
Next door had theirs done, front and back, last month. They were finished in a day so if you've been quoted £1200, that's a grand in labour.
They put two ladders up and then hooked a platform on to them. Looked quite secure.
-
It's a communal row, so will have to match existing, whatever it is.
Round? ;D
-
IF you are ok climbing ladders (er, I'm not!), it's an easy job and ought to keep you on the friendly side of £200.......
Ron.

1st floor btw. It's an upstairs flat.
Is your downstairs neighbour be willing to pay half?.......or is the guttering solely your responsibility?
Just a thought. :y

Are you the freeholder of the building? Because that's who is responsible, I'd have thought. :-\

You have seen my place Chris...I had the rear Fascias and gutter removed, then replaced with the thick PVC and new OG guttering, also one side of the gable end up to the apex, with inner woodwork replaced as it was rotten, and again replaced with thick PVC.
I did not have the soffits replaced. Total price was £650. Took a day.
However I did pay £300 on top of that for scaffolding as I intended to do the job myself, but when I got up there, the corner and end rafter were so rotten, it was out of my skill level to replace. and too awkward to use ladders only.
The front and other side of the gable end, and front guttering I did myself, without scaffolding
as I could use the front end of the garage to stand on.
As an afternote, the maisonettes on this estate are all covenented so that any top work cost is shared by the bottom maisonette
