Title: Clarkson on the rack again...
Post by: 05omegav6 on 02 May 2014, 09:26:56
Another round of fuss over nothing :-\

James Mays' comment should clarify any discrepancy ;D

Agreed. Must be a slow news day. And this "slope" comment on the Burma special...what a load of nonsense. We'll soon have to re-write the entire dictionary because half the words in it will no doubt be offensive to someone somewhere!  >:(

I wonder if people who complained about the 'slope' comment actually watched the show? You can clearly see the bridge was a bit pissed  ;D

I suspect 'Bellend' will be singled out soon ;D

It's a strange world.

I was talking to my 92 year old mother yesterday.

"I can still remember the first time your father took me to the pictures. It was so romantic"

"Oh yes, and what film did you watch"

"Ten little niggers by Agatha Christie" came her perfectly innocent reply. :)

Why did he apologise ??? If people are offended then tough titty, if you don't like the English language then Pee of to somewhere they speak Swahili. ;D
Can't say this can't say that, well I say what I like and if you take offence....tough.
For example the father of a neighbour ( black chap) was unloading gardening equipment from his car to do her garden. A few of us were chatting in the crescent and one neighbour quipped "I hope you've got a spade" normal friendly banter. Well he shouted " WHAT DID YOU SAY" guess what reply he got? :(
It's a sad day when we have to not offend someone by normal conversation :(

I wonder who at the BBC gave The Mirror access to the out takes.  :-\

Probably the same person who complained about the slopey bridge...

Last time I looked, she was neither Asian nor African...

So this story is in The Mirror, formerly edited by that little shit Piers Morgan, and Jeremy Bellendson writes for The Sun.

The article doesn't explain how the footage was prized from the production office. The Mirror must of paid a few quid and spent a good few hours sifting cut footage to come by this little gem.

There's the real story IMO. What cobblers.

I come into contact with several black guys in my job, they call each other Nigger , so how the f**k can it be offensive ?

It's a strange world.
..............

It certainly is.  :y

The 'n' word is used by the black guys at work as a friendly greeting to another black guy, but obviously none of us use this word.
The black guys I work with all seem to agree that something said in complete innocence only becomes a problem when somebody homes in on it, and then starts digging a hole by explaining that they didn't mean to cause offence by saying what they said.  ::)
We should not have to tip toe around what we say all the time, as those that genuinely know us should know that we wouldn't be offensive to them deliberately.  :y

Yep....His dog was called 'Nigger' as were many other black dogs and cats at that time. It's historical fact so why change it.

It isn't what you say but your intention when you say it. People are so easily "offended" these days, especially on behalf of others, where those others are not in the least bit offended.
How can we live like this, always having to be wary of every word we utter? People cannot expect to live in a coCOON, devoid of any slight upset - get real get a life!
Anybody remember The Goons? In one episode of that programme, Ray Ellinton, (black), played the part of a copper, and he referred to himself as a coonstable! Also, he was forever playing up to the stereotype, to great humorous effect, with his mocking voice - harmless fun, enjoyed by all.
PLEASE don't take all the humour out of life, or we might end up like Germans. That wasn't racist, was it?

Ron.

Which was renamed to 'And then there were none' many many years ago by the then fledgling PC police.  Thing is, the story is about murders which take place on an island and every time someone is bumped off a figurine quietly disappears from the mantelpiece.  The reference has absolutely nothing to do with people from a  certain race at all.

It looks as though the film/book has been re-named several times.

I can find later reference to 'Ten little Indians' and later still 'Ten little soldiers'.

This colour actually existed and was a regular feature on many colour charts. Removed some time in the mid 1970's, I think. :)

Contrary to popular belief the Germans actually have a very good sense of humour, with like all countries a few exceptions of course.

Indeed it was, and I seem to recall the brand of boot polish. :y

If one black calls another niga then that's fine but if a white person does it's racism, go figure. :(

You can call me a racist and I don't care you'd be wrong but it ain't a stigma. :y

Rods2, I am a quarter German and I do know that Germans have a great sense of humour; I was just following the stereotype for comic effect - as part-German, I am allowed!

Well, having never seen the show before I would have to say that it's about as racist as you can get... but it's funny.
When did this show air?  Guessing the 70's?
We're there many shows like this then?

Eenie Meenie Miney Moe.....

Catch a straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual man, woman or transgender individual of various race, religion and/or creed by the toe in an ecologically sustainable manner whilst taking care not to infringe on their human rights or impose cultural or economic stereotypes on said personage.

Don't see why... In fact they would probably consider it ahead of its time. Political protagonists, conspiring to install a black sheriff, who transpires to be rather capable, eventually saving the day before the whole film descends into farce ::)

I wonder if Mr Obamas puppeteers have seen it :-\
