Title: Mk2 Focus
Post by: 78bex on 07 May 2014, 23:15:35
Bro in-law seems hell bent on buying one  ::) 56 reg 1.6LX with 34k miles £2500. from a bloke a couple doors down.
Nearly every panel looks to be scratched or scuffed some of these might polish out. Original cam belt so that needs sorting, new pads on the last service. drives ok but drones/ road noise at speed. Every wheel seems to have a different cheapo tyre on it  ;D
Anything iffy or a known fault with these  :-\

OK, Thanks for that; I`ve tried to check the usual things. The engine/ gearbox is free from oil leaks & the coolant tank has clean red in it. The air-con blows cold. Ford didn`t spoil their Focus owners then. I mean a nice hard plastic feel to the steering wheel, backed up by yards of  hard black plastic every where else.

You get what you pay for - if you want a luxury low mileage 56 reg car it will cost more than £2½K ;)

Morning all,
Check for power steering pump/pipes leaks a known issue on the 1.6 (had to replace them on my wifes Focus) also water tends to leak in through the washer jets-this water eventually rots out two very small core plugs in the head which results in water getting at the spark plugs, engine misfiring and a destroyed coil pack (also had this). This all happened a year ago on the wifes 55 plate Focus with 38000 miles and a full Ford SH.

Last 10000 miles have been great-a comfortable and very nice car to drive!
