Title: FAO mick-1975 - 2.0/2.2 Exhaust
Post by: tunnie on 10 May 2014, 13:53:13
Mick just collected the exhaust I had going spare, it was an Eternal 2.0/2.2 system.

It has the single centre section and back box. Mick was a bit concerned as 2.2 from the factory has twin centre parts, but me and many others run the 2.0 style, with just a single centre on the 2.2's without issue.

My 2.2 has had a single centre section for the past few years and countless miles, without a problem. I think RobG and a few others have done the same.

Just wanted to make a public post, for others to confirm I'm not telling porkies & the 2.0 system is fine on the 2.2  :y :y

Hi All,

Sorry to ask possibly a silly question, but does the 2.0l /2.2l exhaust fitting apply to all 2.2's FL& PFL?

I just wanted to check before I order this (link below) for my 2003 2.2

Thanks :)

On my last omega f/l 2.2...I had a stainless exhaust fitted to it and at the time the guy at the exhaust centre said the same thing,,,do not need the two box system as you can fit a 2.0 ltr to a 2.2 with no probs and he is so correct  :y

Yep, I too have a 2.0ltr exhaust, with a chrome tail.
Had it on for a couple of years now, with no problems.

Just thinking allowed,if the 2.0 Exhaust fits 2.2 could you use 2.0 exhaust manifold on the 2.2? ::) ???

Just to jump on this old thread, as we all know, the 20 exhaust will fit on the 2.2 FL, I am guessing that the 2.2 will fit on the 2.0 MFL estate?

Reason for asking is because I have what is meant to be an Eternal exhaust for my X20XEV 1998 estate but the quality is not all that and it resonates like you would not believe. I actually thought it was blowing, but when you block the tailpipe, there are no blows along the system. The manifold was replaced with a known good one as the original was cracked.

I go to work earlyish in the morning (around 5.30am) and any amount of throttle gets looks from anyone walking along the pavement.

Not sure about the other way around, never seen anyone do it. Guess it would work. Not sure how the 2.0 would take to it

From your description something is wrong, either with cats or issue with the exhaust. It should be silent  :-\

Well, the resonance seems to be coming from the middle-section area.

Now, looking at other posts, it may be an issue with the centre section being incorrect. The back box has taken lots of time to avoid hitting the spare wheel well on the estate, plus nothing seemed to line up well or easily when fitting, all pointing to the middle section.

Well, looks like the ETS exhaust I purchased from Poland was a waste of money. Centre box had split on the join, the exhaust did not fit generally and the rear box rattled like it was full of rust.

Replaced the whole lot from after the cat and it fits better, looks better and is a damn load quieter. Would not find, but the outside is neither is rusty, I think I only got it all near the end of last year.

Will cut the middle box up and have a look inside methinks.

I have had both Eternal and ETS for a few years, generally get about 5-6yrs from them.  I'd be contacting them about it...
