Title: auto gearbox

if an auto gearbox only goes into reverse when cold (all other gears are fine) but not once hot. is it a gearbox problem or a sensor. car in question is a 2.5 T.D

Fluid level is the first thing to check. :y

as other gears are ok, would have thought that has been checked. I,m actually 200mls away from the said vehicle ,but thinking of making a bid.  :-\

Reverse does tend to suffer first if the fluid is low. Doesn't mean it's not a more serious gearbox problem, though.

I was looking at that for a spares donor car as its the same colour as mine , too far for me to pick it up though  :(
